My mum was visiting and we went for a drive, ok a shopping trip. As you do. And on the roads here, it’s typical for the boy racers of the Oasis to race each other down some of the big roads. When we were driving back home, two of them decided to do exactly that. The black Chevrolet Camaro with blacked out windows was behind me and then in front of me and then I was over taking him and then I decided to just stick to the middle and cruise. He then went on to chase someone else.
As we drove past him again, the car was black, the window was down, his hair was black, his phone, his sunglasses black.... like his soul? He looked arab but I didn’t look too hard, they tend to pick up on whether you’re interested if you start gawking. It’s ridiculous, you’re in a car after all. What are they going to do? Chase you down the street until you stop to get your number? Well that’s exactly what he did.
He followed us down the highway, flashed his lights, moved to be behind me no matter what lane I was in, round turns and all sorts, I even took the wrong turn and ended up driving through a little community trying to get rid of him. He was behind me the whole way. It was so awkward. My mum said “what do you know? He might be chasing after me!” Ha ha it made me laugh, of course she was right. He could have been. Damn it mum, don't you know the rules here - don't stare if you aren't interested.
I drove so fast and got parked real quick instead of heading home so he didn’t find out where I lived. I told my mum to move her butt out of the car so he didn’t have enough time to get parked and approach. And we made it across the road into a little café to have some lunch.
I don’t know why I reacted the way I did. But any man who wants to pick you up in front of your mum feels sleazy to me and that’s what I am going with.
Rule 101 when driving, don't stare at men you aren't interested in.
